The group holds monthly meetings that are best-described as a presentation style introduction of a particular topic(s).

The meeting I attended featured favourite applications of some of the members as well as an interesting presentation on travelling well with a PC. I particularily enjoyed participating in the Linux special interest group meeting that occured immediately following the OPCUG main meeting. We had a few technical difficulties but then again it’s bound to happen in this kind of scenario.

Next month, according to the group’s presentations calendar,  “Microsoft Hack and Defend” will be the topic. I am interested to see how this will be broached given the varying skill and interest levels that I noticed in the room.

My jury is still out as to whether this will be for me in the long term, however I know that it was something I had never attended before and it certainly got me out of  the house.

The reality of wired networks quickly became apparent as the setup progressed.

You’d be surprised but removing this went a lot better than I had ever dreamed of. The secret, of course, is taking it one cable at a time.

I’m sure that this is still better than exposing people to massive amounts of radio waves to accomplish the same task with slower throughput. :)
